How to become more creative - Creativity is critical to solving problems in all parts of our lives,

Jeg kom over dette skiltet her om dagen, og det passet meg glimrende. Det beste jeg har sett på lenge. ;)

“Creativity is critical to solving problems in all parts of our lives,” says Richard Restak, a neurologist in Washington, D.C., and the author of Think Smart

“Just as you can learn techniques to improve your memory,” says Restak, “you can learn techniques to be more creative.”

Begin by not working
A lot of designers begin the day with a spot of mindless activity – but rather than a blank-eyed jog, or a numbing commute, they scribble. It’s a technique sometimes known as ‘morning pages’: as soon as you wake up, fill three pages with freeform, stream-of-consciousness thought.

“Do something that doesn’t make sense,” he says, recommending that you try doing “something stupid” so that mistakes occur. “Mistakes allow events to happen outside of the restrictions imposed by logic,” he adds “It may be a little scary, but it only takes one small step to find stupidity and augment one’s creativity.”

Keep a scrapbook, sketchbook, artjournal -  a lot of  it does not make sense, and a lot does not look nice, but who cares, you don`t have to show it to  anybody. In the end it is used to learn, to explore, to grow inside out.

“Inspiration can come when you least expect it – and particularly when you’re not trying to force it.....

Stop watching television
Or better yet, get rid of the damn thing.  TV is a mind-killer. It numbs you. It fills you with emotionally-charged images and over-simplified solutions. It dulls you. Turn it off. Even if this idea scares you, turn it off.
Take a 20-minute walk everyday - it is healthy and it increase creativity!

I have no name
Until you name me.
I have no form
Until you shape me.
I don't exist
Until you make me,
I am creativity.

I am waiting deep inside you
Touch my spark
And let me light you,
Give me life
And I'll revive you
I am creativity.

Make a list of things you love

Be quiet
Light a few candles after dark and just sit. Don’t meditate if you don’t want to. Just sit quietly and listen. Watch the candles. Allow for more silence in your life.
We are a noisy people. I hear people say they can’t stand silence. But it is in silence where we can hear the voice of our creativity. Maybe not at first. But it will come.

Sometimes when I go through the art journal I see with new eyes. I cold discover a color I like, a pattern, it could be anything that could be that litle ting that brings out your inner creativity.

Men hvem sa at dagene våre skulle være gratis?
At de skulle snurre rundt
på lykkehjulet i hjertet vårt

og hver kveld

stoppe på gevinst?
Hvem sa det?
Hvor hadde vi dét fra?
Hvem sa at livet vårt
skulle være lett å bygge ferdig?
At mursteinene var firkantede ballonger
som føk på plass av seg selv?
Hvem sa det?
Hvor hadde vi dét fra?
Der var piller for alt: nerver,
vedvarende hoste og anemi.
Men hvem sa at snarveiene
støtt var kjørbare? At fjellovergangene
aldri snødde til? Og at nettopp vi
skulle slippe å stå fast i tunnelen?
Ja, hvem sa det?
Hvor i all verden hadde vi dét fra?
